Kids Winter Clothes

Often recruited by her father (ArdMoor’s MD Anthony Stodart) to help with jobs around the farm, we asked Flora to let us know how her new collection of kids’ winter clothes fared through the winter.

For years I dreaded my father telling me that we were off to feed the birds. This meant spending a couple of hours out in the cold with a bucket full of wheat, filling all the feeders to help the grey partridge and other wild birds through the winter. Many times I would be cold through to my bones and that was before we had to go down to the flight pond to put feed out for the duck when my feet used to get cold too.

That all changed when I was given a Woodcock II Kids Jacket for Christmas along with a pair of Woodcock Kids Trousers, a pair of Sealskinz Women’s Sub Zero gloves and a pair of Gateway Pheasant Lady wellington boots. Life has not been the same since! I now really look forward to going out to fill the feeders as I never get cold any more.

The Woodcock Kids jacket and trousers are a great fit and are nicely warm with lots of pockets for keeping things in and a removable hood for those really nasty days. I have done everything in them from helping to chop logs to filling the feeders to planting trees to beating and not once have I got too hot or too cold.

The Sealskinz Sub Zero gloves are fantastic too. My hands are never cold and the gloves are flexible enough to allow me to move my fingers and thumbs for doing the fiddly things without having to take my gloves off. They are also completely waterproof, so even when its been really wet my hands have always stayed toasty warm and dry.

Finally, with warm feet I am always happy. The Gateway Pheasant Lady Wellington Boots are really comfortable to wear even for a full day’s beating on the hill and their neoprene lining is really warm and comfy too so if I am standing or sitting still my feet are always warm. Happy feet mean a happy me and if everything else is warm and comfortable too then I will always jump up when Daddy asks whether I would like to come and help him with the feeders.
