Article Date: Posted in Ardmoor Team, News and Recipes

If you are looking for a great way to get that summer feeling and are having friends and family coming for a BBQ, why not surprise them with this easy and fun aperitif.

elderflower gin

  • 70cl bottle of any good gin

  • 12 to 16 elderflower heads

  • 5 tablespoons of caster sugar

  • Preserving jar & bottle

  • Sieve & funnel

Add the flowers, sugar and gin to a clean preserving jar and stir. Tuck all the flowers down under the top level of the gin, seal the jar and set aside.

Leave for about 7 days until the gin has turned into a rich clear honey colour…Finally, strain the gin through a sieve into a jug and transfer into a sterilized clean bottle. It’s now ready for drinking with your favorite cold tonic & plenty of ice and slice of lemon or lime and a few fresh mint leaves.
