Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags 2nd Birthday Event

shooting club scotland

The end of 2016 saw a 2nd birthday celebration for Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags. The club had its first shoot at Raemoir House Hotel in Aberdeenshire two years ago and since then it has gone on to hold shoots in various stunning exclusive venues. The ArdMoor team attended the birthday event in support of our experts and the club’s Director, Mhairi Morriss.

The ladies enjoyed a clay shoot in the stunning grounds of the Raemoir House Hotel. For a special treat, some of the ladies welcomed their partners to the event, with a gentleman’s shoot running simultaneously. Another ArdMoor Expert, Ian Hume (member of the Scottish Clay Shooting Team), was on hand to give each gun some top tips.

It was also the final of the 'ArdMoor Glad Rags Challenge.' Over the year, ladies submitted their scores from the clay shoots they attended, their four best scores counted towards the competition.  It was a nail biting finish in all three categories: beginners, improvers and the experienced shot. Lois Moyes held her nerve in the experienced category to beat Helen Malcom, Sandra Keir shot a spectacular 28/30 to win the improvers section with Joanne Whyte runner up and Jennifer Chalmers the clear winner of the beginners with Hazel Dingwall runner up –each of the winners received a £100 voucher for ArdMoor. Louise Gray, author of The Ethical Carnivore, entertained the group with an insight of her journey while researching her book only eating what she herself killed.

Mhairi is very proud of how far Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags has come since its conception,

“Glad Rags is completely unique. Unlike other shooting clubs it does not hold its events at already established shooting grounds, instead it is like a roving syndicate holding its events at different, stunning exclusive venues. There is no joining fee and ladies can dip in and out of events whenever it suits them. It doesn’t matter where we are the atmosphere at every event is always the same, welcoming, friendly, fun and encouraging.”

Ladies of all shooting experiences are welcome, from women who have never held a gun before to the more experienced shot. Mhairi says, “All that the ladies have to bring is themselves - all equipment is provided.  Glad Rags is the perfect platform for ladies to give shooting a go and under the umbrella of the Glad Rags shooting club they can then progress to simulated game days and full driven days. Many ladies come on their own but by the end of the event they are surrounded by new friends.”
