How warm are the Grubs Snowline Wellingtons?

Last Modified On: Posted in Experts, Footwear, Graeme Creamer and News

Our expert, Graeme Creamer, put the Grubs Snowline Wellington Boots to the test during a particularly cold beach walk on the Isle of Skye.

Though the images show clear skies and sun, don't be fooled. It's mid-January on the Isle of Skye and snow has been falling (though thankfully not lying) earlier today. The temperature is barely creeping above zero and there's a bitter wind...so I thought today would be a good day to test out my Grubs wellingtons!

These wellies promise to protect feet in even the coldest of conditions and are said to maintain their insulating properties in temperatures down to -40°C. As today's snow wasn't lying, I thought I would take the boots on a walk down to Coral Beach, where the wind and icy water would provide a good environment to see how warm these boots really were.

First time out of the box I thought these wellies looked pretty standard – nice two-tone design with a softer neoprene outer above the ankle line.  I was surprised how light they felt and first time trying them on (in my kitchen) was amazed at both how comfortable and cosy they felt.

I have been wearing the wellies for approximately three months now and am delighted with them.  They are comfortable for walking in and in the few cold snaps we have had on Skye I have found my feet to be kept warm (and dry of course).  The grip is good underfoot.
