What made you choose this career?
Rockrose has been an ambition of mine for quite some time. I believe my association with horses has been one of the most significant factors in influencing who I am and what I have achieved – both inside and outside of my career. Rockrose has been built to allow others to benefit from that same experience.
What do you love most about your role?
I love the variety, but the thing I love most is seeing people achieve something with their horses that they never thought possible and then taking that new found confidence into other parts of their lives.
What is your favourite time of year and why?
Late summer. It’s the time when all of your efforts throughout the year come to fruition and you can benchmark yourself against the best at the championships. You then turn the horses away into the field for holidays as a massive thank you for all they have done for you and look back on the learnings from the year.
What is your most difficult time of year and why?
Early winter, the post party lull sets in. Mostly because I’m not exercising as much and eating badly because I’m not focused on achieving anything with the horses.
What’s your most stressful time of year and why?
Early spring. The season always seems to start suddenly with a huge bang in March. It’s exciting, but the jumps always look huge and I wonder if I’m going to get anywhere near where I finished the last season. I’m always convinced it must have been a fluke! It’s much easier nowadays though to get properly prepared as we have the indoor arena. It’s a godsend!.
