Musto Fenland Jacket Review

Our outdoor expert, Graeme, well and truly put the Musto Printed Fenland BR2 Packaway through its paces during winter storms on the Isle of Skye.

I love this jacket! With a tweed-effect pattern it doesn’t look like the average waterproof jacket and I admit I have been wearing it for general day-to-day use as well as for walking. It’s not designed for warmth (rather for on top of layers) but I can officially confirm it is waterproof! The rain and wind has been relentless these last few weeks.

The hand-warmer chest pockets are great for ‘cold people’ like me. I particularly like that the jacket can be adjusted at the base, the waist and the hood to get it fitting everywhere you want it to. I recommend not buying up a size to allow for layers underneath: I usually buy size ‘S’ for all tops, ordered the jacket in a size ‘S’ and it is roomy – in a good way – and has clearly been designed to allow for layers underneath.

The packaway feature is not something I thought I would use. However, on a walk where I slightly underestimated how warm it was outside I found myself stuffing the jacket into the inner pocket. Weighing in at just over half a kilo and with a sewn-in clip I attached it to the strap of my camera case and forgot it was there.

Practical, functional and looks great.
