Since it was founded in the 60's, Gul has produced over 4m wetsuits to surfers around the world. Having had huge success with their wetsuit range, Gull Watersports entered the dinghy sailing market in the 1990's and this has continued to develop into a full range of sports sailing products. Synonymous with performance, quality and innovation, Gul are at the forefront of the watersports market.
Over 40 years ago in the 1960s the foundations of the Gul brand were being stitched together by a man called Dennis Cross. Dennis was a keen surfer who often took to the cold Atlantic waters, it was for this very reason that he decided to begin his pursuit of creating a purpose built wetsuit for surfers. Since the early sixties the wetsuit has evolved from being two separate pieces of clothing to a streamlined one-piece wetsuit which was fist created in the early 70s. The Gul steamer wetsuit was Gul’s first one-piece creation, which obtained its name due to the fact that there was a visible stream of steam coming from the wetsuit when it was removed after cold day of surfing. Gul has invested time in expanding its product range and now produces a wide range of dinghy sailing products alongside its surfing range. Gul have firmly placed themselves amongst the market leaders by providing specialist sailing kit in the form of buoyancy aids, drysuits, spraytops, boots, shoes and accessories. Through the continual creation of innovative and reliable sailing kit, Gul have secured several partnerships over the years, such as being allocated as the official sponsor the British Olympic Sailing team during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. With Gul you know you are buying reliable sailing kit designed and tested by industry experts. Over four million wetsuits have been produced by Gul and its continual expansion into new product the Gul brand name continues to grow.
