Stalking Trousers

On a stalk, your legs take the worst of it. You kneel to glass, crawl across wet grass, push through bramble and bracken and sit for long spells on damp ground. Stalking trousers need to stay quiet through all of it, keep you dry and comfortable, and hold up to season after season of rough use.

Built for Quiet Movement

Noise is the first thing to consider. Stiff waterproof fabrics can swish with every stride, which is the last thing you want when a roe is feeding thirty yards away. Soft, brushed outer fabrics and low-noise membranes make hunting trousers far quieter through cover. Articulated knees and stretch panels help you crouch, kneel and crawl without the fabric pulling, and a secure, adjustable waist keeps everything in place when you are lying prone.

Choosing Trousers for the Season

Lightweight, breathable stalking trousers suit spring and summer roe stalking, when warm afternoons in humid woodland can leave you overheating. Our article on summer stalking and June roe explains what warm-weather kit needs to do. For autumn hill days and winter hind stalking, waterproof hunting trousers with windproof protection and room for a base layer underneath are worth every penny. Reinforced knees and seat panels add durability where you need it most, and muted greens and browns help you blend into British woodland and hill. If you prefer a patterned finish, see our camouflage stalking trousers.

Fit and Trusted Brands

Mens hunting trousers and women's styles should allow full movement without excess fabric to snag or rustle. Check that the leg length works with your boots and gaiters, and that pockets sit where you can reach them when seated. We stock stalking trousers from Deerhunter, Harkila, Pinewood, Sitka and Seeland, all field-tested on UK woodland, estate and hill ground. Complete your kit with stalking gaiters, stalking footwear and a quiet stalking jacket.

Keeping Them Performing

Mud and dried vegetation hold moisture against the fabric and wear down waterproof finishes, so brush off the worst after each outing and dry trousers naturally away from direct heat. Wash with a technical cleaner rather than household detergent and reproof when water stops beading. A little regular care keeps your stalking trousers quiet and dependable season after season.
